Norwich Castle is 900 years old. It was built in 1121. After a big 27.5 million-pound makeover, it opened again on August 13th 2025. The Norman fortress is now called The People’s Palace and is the UK’s most accessible castle. For the first time, visitors can explore all five levels, from the basement up to the battlements. A modern lift allows wheelchairs and pushchairs to reach even the rooftop. Inside the castle, there are rooms which look like Norman royal rooms. Visitors can see furniture, lights, and colorful laser shows in the Great Hall. The new Gallery of Medieval Life shows more than 900 old objects from the British Museum. Experts explain that Norwich was very rich in the Middle Ages, thanks to the wool trade, and people even called it England’s second city.
